Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has welcomed news that CCTV recording will become mandatory in all slaughterhouses in England.

The legalisation which will be introduced in Spring next year will ensure that abattoirs across the country comply with strict animal welfare standards.

Caroline said: "This is a really positive step that demonstrates the Government’s continued commitment to ensuring that as we leave the EU, we retain and enhance our high standards of animal welfare.

"While a number of major UK supermarkets already insist that all their meat and dairy suppliers have CCTV installed, it is right that we deliver on our Manifesto pledge by making this compulsory.

"This is an issue many of my constituents understandably feel strongly about, and I’m glad their views are being taken seriously."
