A HAMPSHIRE primary school is celebrating after being given the top rating by government inspectors.

Redlands Primary School in Fareham has been ranked ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Redlands was judged outstanding in all five categories of the assessment.

The report praised pupils’ performance, stating: “Teachers’ skilful planning, high expectations and creative approach to the curriculum contribute strongly to pupils’ rapid rates of progress.”

Parents were also full of praise for the school, with one parent saying: “Redlands is excellent. My children love it and look forward to going every day.”

Head Kevin Harcombe was also praised, with inspectors describing him as an “inspirational headteacher who leads the school with a passionate determination”.

The report added: “His vision, that every pupil is inspired to become a life-long learner, permeates the school.”

Mr Harcombe said: “I am proud of the children and staff, the fact that we were outstanding in all areas makes it good for the children and the wider community in this part of Fareham.

“We appoint a type of teacher that has a can-do attitude and establishes a good relationship with the children and parents.”

Fareham MP Suella Fernandes recently paid a visit to the school.

She said: “Outstanding schools are about providing an education for the next generation of citizens. The rating reflects the innovative leadership and management.”
