A FAMILY-OWNED Halesowen firm is leading the cause for sustainable energy by installing renewable technology across the UK.
Sterling Power Group, which is owned by Glyn Jones and his sons Adam and Mathew, is one of the UK’s leading suppliers in electrical engineering.
The 170-strong firm is thriving. It took on 56 new employees last year and its turnover increased by £4m to £13m.
Glyn Jones said it had just completed a 12-month contract at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton as a partnership with Schneider Electric to remove a number of 1960s boilers.
Engineers took out the boilers which weighed 30 tonnes each and installed a greener heating and power system.
Mr Jones said: “The electricity generated will lead to savings on its bills and energy that is not used can be put back into the National Grid.
“We are also involved in six solar energy generation projects in the south of England which involves adding 15-20 megawatts to the National Grid from different companies.”
The firm said support from Yorkshire Bank had been invaulable. It used its exchange service to fund purchases from USA and Europe and received help when it bought two four-wheel drives and vans for a contract with Scottish Power to access pylons across Scotland.
