A DEFEATED Hampshire Conservative councillor who lost her seat to the UK Independence Party (UKIP) in yesterday's local elections has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister David Cameron, saying: ''I don't believe a word he says.''

Alexis McEvoy, a former councillor in Hampshire, said the Conservatives ''don't stand up for anything anymore''.

She wrote: ''David Cameron says he'll have a referendum, but no-one believes a word he says.

''I don't believe a word he says, and I'm a lifelong Conservative.

''For some unknown reason, David Cameron and his advisers seem to think that a lot of Conservative voters' values are out of date and need to be modernised and thrown out.''

She added: ''We stood up for things in the past. We don't stand up for anything any more.''

Outspoken Tory MP Nadine Dorries tweeted that it was ''very sad for a lifelong councillor''.

Ms McEvoy lost her seat for the South Waterside ward of Hampshire County Council to Ukip candidate Philip Fawkes, whose party gained 10 seats across the county.
