Dr Ros Tolcher will be leaving her post as chief executive of Solent NHS Trust to take up a new role as chief executive at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust in Yorkshire, where she grew up.
She has played a key role in the local NHS since 1985, during which time establishing herself as a local leader of the NHS and playing a critical role in the creation of Solent NHS Trust, which is now on the verge of becoming an NHS Foundation Trust.
Solent provides community and specialist mental health services in Southampton, Portsmouth and Hampshire.
Dr Tolcher said: “Yorkshire is my home county and I have long planned to move back when the right time came. I am immensely proud of all that has been achieved within Solent and will be moving on with a degree of sadness.
“However, I am very confident that we will attract a strong field of potential successors to my role and that the trust will continue to thrive.
We are making immediate plans to recruit to the Solent NHS Trusst chief executive position."
