HAMPSHIRE teenage singing sensation Birdy has missed out on a Brit Award.

The 17-year-old from Lymington, whose real name is Jasmine Van den Bogaerde, was beaten by Ellie Goulding in the British Female Solo Artist category at the glittering ceremony at London’s O2 Arena last night.

Also nominated in the same category were Jessie J, Laura Marling and Laura Mvula.

The teenager, who is the daughter of a concert pianist and is the great niece of actor Dirk Bogarde, released her second album, Entitled Fire Within, in September after selling almost 1.3million copies of her self-titled album in 2011 and having a Top 20 hit with Bon Iver’s Skinny Love aged just 14.

She studied for her GCSEs at Priestlands School in Lymington but was forced to abandon her A-levels in art and French at Brockenhurst College due to her busy schedule.
