Specialist facilities for children with learning difficulties

The Clay Hill School in Lyndhurst, which opens at the end of the month, offers care and education for up to 25 young people with autism and other special needs.

The new complex, run by the Priory Group, aims to serve increased demand for families looking for specialist education for youngsters with additional needs.

Along with providing education for special needs children, the new school will create 30 jobs for the area.

Clay Hill will cater for youngsters aged five to 19 and will be a boost to the facilities already being provided by the neighbouring Coxlease School.

The Priory Group will run the new centre as a day school which will be accompanied by residential quarters for up to 14 young people. Clay Hill will feature three homes which include communal lounges and kitchens, along with a number of en suite bedrooms and separate quiet rooms.

Each young person will be allocated a key worker responsible for their welfare.

The school will be holding an open day for prospective pupils and parents on Friday, March 28 from 11am to 2.30pm.
