A PONY has been rescued by firefighters after getting caught up in wire fencing.
The one-year-old New Forest pony was trapped between two wire fences in a field off the B3084 in Mottisfont, near Romsey and had damaged its leg.
Its owner was with it and had raised the alarm at around 12.15pm today.
A retained crew from Romsey attended along with the fire service's animal rescue specialist from Lyndhurst and a vet and the RSPCA were informed as is standard practice.
The animal was given painkillers and was freed and was judged that it did not need further treatment.
