Six students from the same A-level physics class at a Hampshire college have won places at Oxford and Cambridge.

Sixth form students Anna Lawes, Seb Millar, Toby Henley-Smith, Burtie Spry, Henry Trunley and Jamie Shaw were given the good news following a rigorous selection process.

This is the first time that six students from a single class at Brockenhurst College have achieved the distinction.

Burtie, who has an offer to study physics at Oxford, said: “I'm so excited to receive my offer from Oxford and can't wait to start in the autumn.

“I was part of the college's 'fast track' scheme that stretched me to excel to my full potential. I've really enjoyed my time at Brock and the quality of teaching has been second to none.”

Physics Lecturer Alex Crutchley said: “All 21 students in my 'Fast Track' Physics group have worked really hard.

“I am so proud that more than a quarter of them now have conditional offers for Oxford or Cambridge University.”

Principal Di Roberts CBE said: “We are absolutely delighted for the students who have been offered places from such prestigious universities.

“Each year a number of our students receive offers from top institutions, but to have so many from one class really is something special.

“This achievement is testament to their dedication and the quality of teaching here at Brock,” she added.
