INDIE rockers The Vaccines have announced a show in Hampshire in April.

The band, who includes Southampton-born frontman Justin Young and drummer Pete Robertson, will appear at the Pyramids in Southsea on April 3.

It comes after the band announced they will be releasing their third album, English Graffiti, on March 9.

The album’s first single Handsome is available to pre-order now and was recorded in upstate New York in the winter of 2014.

The track is accompanied by a riotous video, which sees the band taking on the roles of martial art trained vigilantes.

Justin said: “We wanted to create a video that was a sort of bubblegum ode to cinema and, in particular, Hong Kong kung fu movies.

“Music to me is entertainment, and escapism, and we wanted the video to be an extension of that.

“We want to create another world in which we can play aspirational and heightened versions of ourselves.

“We shot this through a winter’s night in a warehouse in Brooklyn, just before Christmas. No fun indeed. Gerson though, as Canada directors always seem to do, helped us escape and create exactly the world in which we wish we lived.”

The Vaccines are no strangers to performing in Hampshire.

In 2011 the band played a sold-out show at the Southampton Guildhall before appearing at an intimate gig at The Joiners as part of a benefit show to save the venue.

Tickets for the show at the Pyramids go on sale at 10am on Friday via gigsandtours.com.
