A FRAUDSTER, who sold books with the forged signatures of famous British people at his Hampshire home, has been given an extra six months to pay back more than £33,000 from his ill-gotten gains.
Allan Formhals, 68, was jailed in 2012 for ten months after jurors at Southampton Crown Court convicted him on ten counts of fraud by selling books which purported to have the signatures of Sir Winston Churchill, Elizabeth I and Oliver Cromwell.
Last September he attended a confiscation hearing in which Judge Peter Henry said he would have to sell his home in Carrington Lane, New Milton, to meet the order.
He had been living off his criminal activity for about nine months before he was caught with cash going to accounts in his name.
Formhals, who has another property in Keynsham Road, Milford-on-Sea, was given six months to pay up with a warning that he could receive a 15 month jail term in default.
Yesterday Formhals applied for an extension in the confiscation payment because he had met with difficulty in selling the house after a potential purchaser pulled out of a deal.
Judge Henry granted the application, ordering him to pay the cash by September 7.
