PREPARE for mayhem as Pocket Theatre performs its very own take on Gilbert and Sullivan’s musical comedy.

The show features a madcap mix of dancing, devilment, Gucci, gondolas, confusion, contrivance, weddings, Y-fronts, sunshine, swimmers and zimmers that is guaranteed to have you laughing all the way home!

The company, who have made a name for themselves with small-scale, high energy productions including last year’s pantomime, Cinderella, comprises of a dozen talented performers who have made their names with the region’s operatic societies and youth theatres and between them have racked up a host of Daily Echo Curtain Call awards.

Director David Tatnall said “We have a great respect for the genius of Gilbert and Sullivan, but I think it is fair to say this will be a production of The Gondoliers that is unlike any other!”

The show features last year’s Curtain Call winner for Best Performance in a Musical, Jack Shaw-Downie, as Marco alongside winner of Best Performance in an Opera, Shaun Dodimead, as Luiz.

The cast also features, amongst others, Katherine Evans, Chris Evans, Cressida Bullough, Alison Vincent, Adrian Hickford and Rebecca Woodhead and is musically directed by Keziah Jacombs.

  • The show runs from Tuesday April 14 to Friday April 17, 7.30pm, at the Hanger Farm Arts Centre in Totton.
