FOREST Forge Youth Theatre will present The Signalman’s Tale next week.

This ensemble piece focuses on the fleeting stories that pass in and out of our lives. The wise gatekeeper of the railway, the Signalman keeps watch. An abandoned fiancé.

A daring hero. An inspiring tale of fact and fiction set against an imagined railway station. The place where paths cross, of discoveries, delays and new destinations.

“The world turned, people came and went, kings lived and died, wars raged, nations fell. Lovers met, others parted. Stations thrived and the signalman pulled his levers. The puppet master pulled his strings.”

Youth Theatre members spent the last term devising this production.

They have used stories and letters that were collected from the local community as part of the research for the professional touring show Leaves on a Line.

Using these memories of the train lines, and working with the concepts of waiting and change, they have created a beautiful tale centred on human nature.

The Signalman’s Tale runs from April 29-May 2, 7.30pm, Forest Forge Theatre Centre, Ringwood April 30, 7.30pm Forest Forge Theatre Centre, Ringwood. For further details visit forestforge.co.uk
