THE people of Totton will take a trip around the world this Saturday, June 20, when the popular carnival returns to the town.

The carnival theme Totton Around the World was chosen to reflect the variety of cultures and nations from around the world and provides scope for creative costumes and floats.

Last year the carnival raised £1,800 for local charities and they are looking to do the same if not better this year and with around 2500 people from Totton and the surrounding area expected to attend.

The procession will start with motorcycles leaving Mansells Car Park, Calmore Industrial Estate, at 4pm and will make its way down Salisbury Road, around Asda Roundabout; along Ringwood Road into Maynard Road, Junction Road, Eling Lane, Rose Road and into Eling Recreation Ground where there will be entertainment including Charles Cole’s Funfair.

Once the procession reaches Eling recreation ground the carnival show will be in full swing and the royal party will be presented on stage before the evening’s entertainment kicks off.

Whether you’re old or young, visiting or helping, the event is sure to entertain you.

Local bands will take to the stage to provide live music, while children can make the most of face painting, children’s activities and of course the return of Coles Fairground.

A variety of community and craft stalls will be offering the chance to partake in a spot of shopping while numerous refreshment stands and the popular beer tent are guaranteed to whet visitors’ appetites.
