POLICE are appealing for information over an attempted robbery at a convenience store in the New Forest.

The would-be robber walked into the Premier Store in Main Road, Marchwood at about 6pm yesterday.

He demanded that the shop keeper hand over money before trying to grab the till.

He left empty-handed and police then launched a major pursuit operation involving the National Policing Air Service helicopter.

Two men, aged 34 and 22, and a 16-year-old girl, all from Southampton, have been arrested and are currently being quizzed by police.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Robert Cross said: “I am appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to come forward and tell us what they know.”
