THE MOTORCYCLIST who died in a collision with a lorry has been named.

The family of Alan Couper have paid tribute to a “loving husband and grandad.”

Alan, 62, of Upper Brownhill Road died at the scene of a collision between two motorbikes and a lorry on Wednesday.

He had been driving his motorcycle on Stockbridge Road when the crash happened.

Paying tribute to Mr Couper, his family said: “Alan was a loving, gorgeous husband, fantastic supportive father and grandad who was taken from us while he was enjoying one of his favourite pastimes.

“We will miss him so much. We loved him with all our hearts. Life will never be the same without him.”

Mr Couper was one of two motorcyclists involved in a collision with a lorry at the entrance to Longstock Golf Club.

The other motorcyclist was taken to Southampton General Hospital with minor injuries.

The lorry driver, a 57 year-old man from Tidworth in Wiltshire, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving as part of this investigation and has been bailed until June 8 pending further enquiries.
