SNOW has swept across the county bringing a hazy shade of winter to the spring skies.

The white stuff was spotted in Titchfield by the team at Wessex Haven, which provides support and complementary treatments for people with cancer.

Fundraiser Heidi Rehman said they had bright blue skies along with the snow.

The team tried to snap a photo but the snow did not show in the image.

The wintery downpour didn't last long, as it was reported to have ended by 11.10am - just 10 minutes after it started.

But the April snow showers may have drifted west as there were then reports of either snow or hail in Romsey town centre at 11.30am which lasted just a few minutes.

Pete Speirs, president of Romsey Chamber of Commerce, said on Twitter: “Can’t believe we’ve just had a two-minute shower in Romsey.”

The unusual weather was not forecast by the Met Office, who had expected today to be mostly cloudy with sunny spells and some rain at around 4pm.

Temperatures were expected to be between 5°C (41°F) and 9°C (48.2°F).

Now the county is on snow watch as people across Hampshire peer out of their windows to see if it has drifted their way.
