DRIVERS are faced queues of five miles following a crash on a major Hampshire road.

The accident blocked the inside lane of the A31 in Stoney Cross (eastbound) shortly before 11am.

The accident was cleared about 20 minutes later, with delays easing a short time later.

Motorists using the major New Forest route faced delays of around 20 minutes back to Picket Post.

As previously reported, the A31 is set to see a 13.1% rise in traffic over the summer holidays, one of the sharpest increases of any road in the country.
