A SCHOOLGIRL from Ringwood is making her West End debut in School of Rock: The Musical - and she got to meet an inspirational band before the tour begun.

Eliza Cowdery, who trains at Swish of the Curtain Theatre School, plays Katie in the latest theatre adaptation of the 2003 movie, which stars Jack Black.

The theatre production features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and stars Gary Trainor as Dewey Finn and Florence Mullins as Rosalie Mullins.

The show is on at the New London Theatre until January 2018 and members of the child cast, including Eliza, met iconic American rock band Blink-182 at the group's performance at the O2 in London.

On meeting the band and taking part in her first west end show, Eliza said: "It was really fun meeting Blink-182. They were really good and so nice.

"Being part of School of Rock is an amazing experience and I wouldn’t swap it for anything."
