A HAMPSHIRE pub has re-opened after a £100,000 makeover which has created nine new jobs.

Publican, Kelly Teasdale celebrated with her team and customers at the relaunch of the Falcon Inn in Fawley, when visitors were treated to menu samples, live entertainment and a welcoming glass of Prosecco.

The pub has undergone full refurbishment to the public and lounge bars and the WCs.

Kelly, who took over the pub in June, said: “The Falcon is a beautiful pub with lots of history, but needed some love and attention – the new-look has received some amazing comments and I’m sure it will be a huge success.”

Since her arrival Kelly, who hails from New Zealand, has introduced a new food and drinks menu and the pub is now open from 7am when it offers breakfast and homemade cakes.

Kelly has also introduced darts and pool teams, live music, comedy evenings and karaoke.

She said: “When I took over the Falcon, I wanted to give the community their pub back, by making everyone feel welcome and providing a great atmosphere.” Since moving to Fawley from New Zealand, my son and I have been welcomed into the community and it has now made Fawley my home.

“I have introduced a new entertainment offer for everyone to enjoy, which includes and lots more! I’m really excited about my future at the Falcon Inn and would like to thank the local community for their help and support”.

Jason Cousins, publican development and training manager for the pub’s owners Punch, said: “The Falcon looks great following the refurbishment, and it’s been a pleasure working with Kelly. The local community have supported her and she has some great ideas for the future.”

The Falcon shut down suddenly in late November sparking fears among residents that it would not re-open.

However, Punch put in a temporary manager in December who ran the pub until Kelly’s arrival.

Built in the 1700s, the Falcon is said to be haunted by its first landlord, Mr Waterman, who died after being hit by a horse and carriage.
