New Forest District Council bids to shut down swingers' club in Calmore

Bid to shut down sex club Bid to shut down sex club

COUNCIL chiefs are trying to shut down a sex club in a Hampshire village – because it breaks planning rules.

Neighbours have complained about the swingers’ club, which is based in a £500,000 private house boasting two fetish dungeons and a communal hot tub.

It is an unlikely setting for a sex club that has become so popular it boasts a programme of specialist nights ranging from fetish events to swingers’ nights and parties for “Big Beautiful Women”.

Guests are asked to contribute up to £35 towards the evenings where “every fantasy can come true”.

In between regular events for couples and singles, the £500,000 “fiveplayroom”

property can be rented out on a “first come first served basis” according to its website.

But now the venue, known as JCT2 on the swinging circuit, has been ordered to close down by the local authority after years of complaints from neighbours.

Residents living near the house in Salisbury Road, Calmore, have objected to guests parking outside their homes and have even had to direct lost partygoers to the right address.

New Forest District Council says the owner has allowed the property to be used as a business and as a result is in breach of planning rules.

If the only issue is parking, why not address that issue?

If people are in too sexual exploration why must people meddle, just let them get on with it, they are not harming anyone for god sake.

Surely a 'contribution' is not actually payment. I contribute to charities does, that mean I'm running a business? Sour grapes really just in case one of their own is known/seen to use it! That reminds me, where's my whip and orange?

When we have a get together we all contribute towards the costs !!
What people do in the privacy of their own homes is up to them !!
They will have difficulty proving this is a business, yet no doubt they will try at the tax payers expense of course !!
Maybe supply a park and ride, would solve the parking issues !!

I'm sure the residents of Calmore will be delighted when the property is reposessed, taken on by the Council, and let to a large family of gypsies/immigrants from / mother on benefits with 16 children, used as a drug re-habilitation centre or perhaps as a halfway house for paedophiles when they come out of prison. Just so long as they don't cause parking problems...

A swingers club in sleep Calmore? Never! But surely this is not a business unless charges are enforced? Contributions are presumably voluntary, so if that any different to taking a few cans, bottles etc. to a friends house when you visit? As far as the parking is concerned, that can be annoying and I live near people who always seem to have lots of people visiting. I'm getting worried now ... perhaps these are not genuine visitors after all. Better call in the council!!

I can't understand about the parking issue, there's parking for a lot of cars at the front and the nearest neighbour is about half a mile down the road so I can't see how they are having cars parked outside their houses. I think the Daily Echo should report fact and not fiction.

Strange how the Echo hasn't mentioned their disdain for this club in the past seven years? Looked on their website, the place has a secluded car park and having gone up that road the nearest neighbour wouldn't ever hear anything that goes on and anyone parking by there would do so in a public lay-by.

There's clubs of this nature all over the country and this is the 21st century after all.

Actually to be factually accurate you did come into being as did most things in the universe and beyond, this has been proven in sub atomic molecular physics!

class has nothing to do with it, look back in time, the Greeks were the biggest swingers of them all, but that was society. Also morally speaking if consenting adults wish to try out and explore their desires where is the moral wrong?

To go even further, for those of a religious nature, God's gift to mankind was to procreate (because he knew how good it was and how much we would like it).

The nearest neighbour which is 150 metres away on the opposite side of the A36 , and has a long public lay-by next to their entrance, is using their house as a dancing school business.Except for a farm and a few rural business units even further away there are no other near neighbours. The house in the picture is banded on council tax as 'C' , seems a bit low for its size , the dancing school is banded at 'E'.
The house is surrounded by high hedges on all sides, their JCT2 website quotes ' The entrance to the house is secluded and can catch out the unwary. There is a black lampost outside with three lights on it.' There are some blue lights in the hedge. LOL.

I'm sure this owner had a similar business running in an up-market area of Bristol until last year, until the neighbours complained to the city council , and had it closed down. All the details were published in the Bristol Evening Press at the time and disclosed he was the owner of several other similar businesses.

I have seen worse things happen at an office Christmas party or up against a wall at the back of the pub after closing. At least this is happening in private and not in public areas.

I agree with Rosie47, this is about them not having planning. No-one much cares about what they're doing inside. It would be interesting to see how many in this column would get upset if they wanted to start off a business at home but had to spend out on planning and stuff. They are trying to get round planning laws and stuff. Or if this was in their backyard lol... would I want my kids being next door to people coming and going in fetish gear???? perhaps not lol however it would give me plenty of amusement ! :P as someone said it is rather funny!

What they do is none of my concern, but it's a dwelling and a 'change of use' therefore they should apply for planning like anyone else... its' not prostitution they're all consenting adults but they're using a dwelling for other purposes - unfair? perhaps but that's why we have planning laws.....

I understand what you are saying but it is a residential house where somebody lives that is not overlooked in anyway and is totally secluded.
They are holding parties which are not for gain, £35 contribution is a small amount to attend a £500,000 house party with buffet, jacuzzi (and I know how much it costs to run one), all of the washing, cleaning up after. Not to mention the addition to their utility bills.
If it was being run as a business then I'm fairly sure they would soon go out of business.

if, as you say, "no-one much cares about what they're doing inside", and if "what they do is none of your concern", then why should it be refused planning permision? I'd rather see the house well maintained, kempt and unobtrusive & paying council tax rather than empty. If the NFDC were REALLY savvy, they would introduce a private members club business tax for properties such as this.

If the NFDC were REALLY savvy, they would introduce a private members club business tax for properties such as this.
Except it isn't a private members club.

Love these people who have never visited a sex/swingers/fetish club and think they know everything about them.

Here's a shock for you. At a "sex" club you will find a variety of open-minded people having fun.

Some have sex, some dress up, some play in the dungeons, some just chat with open-minded individuals.

Very few, if any, ever get drunk.

None of them EVER touch, grope or make inappropriate suggestions to each other.

Sex is ALWAYS safe. Condoms with strangers. Simple.

Let's think about your local town nightspot on a Saturday night.

Predatory males, females in more revealing outfits than many at the "sex club" mostly getting drunk, hammered, slaughtered. Pouncing on each other, ending up in some random stranger's bed, not knowing what happened, with who and whether or not protection was used.

Think about it.

My wife and I have been married for over 22 years and have a great love life and are soundly in love. We are not shackled by societies or religions restraints and seek to experience harmless fun with decent like minded people. We've been to a few places like jct2 and although the theme is sex orientated the level of respect for each other is immense. I have news for your readers... That ,which most of those fantasise about but are afraid to explore, is carried out by thousands of uk couples . The echo is sensationalising the story because the reserved amongst you like to read about sex because your life is a little dull. Those of us that are not afraid of our bodies see the story for what it is ....titillation. We went to jct2 a few weeks ago and although not fetish lovers had a great laugh and fun time (no sex) with some really nice and "free" individuals.

Add together the sun readers , the **** browsers, the adulterers, those that covert another's wife or husband and those that fantasise about a TV star.... That's your majority . Those that act on their desires and those that are devoid of such desire are the minority. Which group lives a life of deceit and frustration ?

Don't you find it strange that a couple can't satisfy their own needs as a partner relationship?

In my mind if you stray elsewhere, something isn't right in your current relationship, which may need help?

I assume some of these people have kids, who are in turn learning off their parents?

I read where research found that in most cases, one partner did not really want to be a swinger and was only doing it to keep their partner happy. It also found that most swinger relationships ended.

You obviously have a very small mind which normally means everything is small.
Just because a couple goes to an adult themed party doesn't mean that they participate in partner swapping. If you read my posts on here you would see that we went because we were curious about it and we are open minded enough to want to see what goes on.
I can tell you that you wouldn't last 5 minutes in there with your crude attitude. Just because someone is at a party of this nature doesn't mean they are there to fulfill your sexual desires. We were there for at least 5 hours and never did a thing but we had some good adult conversation with people from all walks of life.
One of the main party rules is that no means no. We were asked if we were going upstairs but a polite no thanks meant we weren't bothered anymore.
I have now told you no twice. Which is twice more than we had to say it at the party.
Strange how you get more respect in a swingers club than you do on here.

Funniest post ever! Credit due!

If you love someone and they love you, why the need to meet others and share intimate times?

Should one of you wish to explore this surely means 'the partnership' has broken down and you no longer feel the need to be a couple?

As an 'adult' fiction writer I have visited this house a couple of times, and whilst not actually indulging, it was an interesting experience and I walked away thinking that 'yes, fantasy is better than fiction'.
I couldn't see that parking was a problem, maybe the neighbours are taking issue with the noise as now there is a smoking 'room' in the garden, which seems to see more action than the dungeon!

yeah yeah I got all that! So, what damage is it causing? A moral decline? I'd say not, read some history. A parking violation? Again, I'd say not, if previous posters info can be corroborated. A nuiscance to up-tight NIMBY's? Yes, that's more likely.

The fact they're taking money (in whatever form) makes it a form of business..... if they were truly altruistic they would do it for nothing. I don't want to be a spoilsport, but domestic dwellings aren't set up with fire safety - these Laws are there for people's safety. What if there was a fire and people couldn't get out. Do they have Public Liability Insurance.. it's a minefield and whilst I have absolutely no problem with what the couples are up to in there, I do have concerns about people trying to 'get round' laws like this, especially when the rest of us have to set up proper parameters for businesses from home and it is regulated.

They had that many people visiting that they even employed a parking attendant! And charged a higher contribution to costs and WERE near other houses!

Seriously people, if you haven't tried things or been there don't comment. Just because people in a loving, trusting, enriched relationship choose to explore their fantasies together, what's wrong with that?
The problem arises when one party 'forces' the other in to something or they do it for the wrong reasons, and yes some people do try things for the wrong reasons, but not everyone!

The problem here is nothing to do with what goes on at this place but the fact that the venue is operated as a business. The contributions are not optionally - if you dont pay you do not get in. The venue takes 1000's of ppounds in entrance fees EVERY month. Not 1p is paid in tax or VAT .. Health and Safety is not enforced there and these is no VENUE insurance ... The place is a disaster waiting to happen ... To say that this is just for occasional social parties is a joke .. it is operated as a business and should like any other business abide by the law, e Pay tax and VAT if applicable and ensure that anyone using the venue is safe by conforming to H&S.

If people want to swing - great and good luck to them ... but lets not kid ourselves that the people behind this operation are not making a mint and that too is cool as long as they pay the tax ...

JUST BE GRATEFUL THAT THEY ARE RESPECTFUL AND DOING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, GEE I COULD UNDERSTAND IF THEY WAS DOING IT ALL IN THE FRONT LAWN !!!!!!!!!!! WONDER HOW LONG IT TOOK THE COUNCIL TO COME UP WITH THAT ONE. (oops sorry cap lock was on ). I take it that these people complaining don't have sex in they're houses then !!!! what's the difference, ok so this house has more than 2, no different than having loads of sex toys present, just these ones don't need batteries, they work all by themselves. haha. Some folk should go get a life, far worse things going on in life. take a look outside i suggest !!!!!

George, I've read your previous comments regarding SFC on the sports forum and now this!

Why oh why are you so high and mighty? Are you of the clergy or just frustrated? Do you not see the humour in anything? Ever heard of banter? Or are you so PC and full of yourself that you regard only "your" comments appropriate!

Chill out for crying out loud and get a life! Yes there was an issue of parking which can be very annoying at best, but it was not a knocking shop with girls standing on street corners. By all accounts the residents of the house and their friends were discreet, it was just the excess cars that brought everything to light.

Still, in your polically correct, no doubt gender neutral and fun free world the possibility that someone was getting a knee-trembler or a group-hug against your moral high ground is too much to bear. You need to leave the train set alone and get yourself a girlfriend otherwise me old fruit you'll definately go blind!!!

I visited this club with my wife about 18 months ago and had a thoroughly good evening. The other party guests are friendly and not at all pushy. We went along to see what it was like, we didn't do anything with anyone else but had a great time just like a normal party.
I can't understand about the parking issue, there's parking for a lot of cars at the front and the nearest neighbour is about half a mile down the road so I can't see how they are having cars parked outside their houses. I think the Daily Echo should report fact and not fiction.
Hey Marky66 if you are having trouble satisfying your wife can I have a bounce on her please !! pmsl

I did!!! - and you were both there - which says a lot - so come on then mate I will give you £35 if you let me, then u can go back again !!
Wind your neck in mate - I was messing with you - but it does seem that I have hit a raw nerve though !! I am far from small minded buddy and I don't really give a toss what other people get up to - but I do know one thing - I would never, ever take my wife anywhere near somewhere like that !! You truly are kidding yourself if you think everyone that goes to these places are normal and nice!! Most people are but I know a few that actually go there and believe me I would not let a couple of them within a mile of my missus!!!

Well I have to admit you bring new meaning to the expression of loving, trusting and enriched relationships!! I never realised that included watching a stranger f**k the a** off the mother or father of your kids or the love of your life !! I think you will find it actually means the opposite and you are obviously not 100% satisfied with your partner. Up to you what you do but please don't try and fob us off with a load of old bulls*it

I have been there loads of times. It's a great place, but it IS a business. If you don't pay - you don't get in! AND you have to bring your own drinks!!!

Sometimes it has been busy and you have to park over the road in the lay-by. It is a shame the stupid council wants to close it though! They're not doing any harm (except maybe avoiding paying tax)....
