Councillor slaps election candidate (From Daily Echo)

Haha - has anyone seen Alan Patridge's spoof political debate A Partridge Over Britain when the tory ends up attacking a student dressed up as Kojak, thereby losing the safest conservative seat in the country? This reminds me of that.

PS if anyone wants to give Nigel Farage a quick slap then I won't tell anyone.

Unusual for a Councillor to be attacking anyone else...particularly when they are able to defend themselves.

If the roles, and ages were reversed there would be a public outcry with demands for his immediate prosecution and resignation, but because he is a man gracious enough to accept her apology the matter will be dropped.
The police should investigate this assault with a view to prosecute. Although I have no doubt the one rule for one and another rule for others will apply.
Her dismissal from holding any public office should be immediate, of course this will not happen, she is after all a Tory.
Resignation is not a word Tories understand.

I agree, but as they were 'friends' beforehand I think it may have been easier for there to be an apology rather than be some fracas in the courts.

I hope she also offered to pay for his dental treatment! but the dignified thing would have been to resign and apologise to everyone including her party for her behaviour, which is clearly totally unacceptable!

You can't defend the situation but accepting the apology before scuttling off to the newspapers after he lost the election sums this little man up entirely.

Its better than what the very first labour candidate got in Southampton I took 6.1% of the vote, that very first Labour candidate got 2.8% of the votes in Southampton.
212 votes is better than the Tory base votes in Redbridge ward, I yet to find out what will be the Base votes for the TUSC in Redbridge ward.
And also I was only 32 votes short of over hauling the Lib/Dem vote.
I have Labour worried here in Redbridge, they even publicalley named there Candidate for Redbridge 1 mth early so he can get a longer run up, the only thing for sure in this area is that Torys will lose this ward, and thats going to happen weather if people vote Labour or TUSC the battle for Redbridge is on.
But don't watch this area for a shock result it will not be this ward that will produce it, but the one next door to the shock result last year where a Tory lost his ward to Labour.

Prescott's a thug who took care of himself like a lot of old boys can. It's only people like you who are frightened of the same thing happening to you that make a fuss. Grow a pair.

I think that you are a little confused; in my opinion John Prescott was right in punching the 29 year old and wiping the smug grin off his face, the look of shock when JP through the left is etched in my memory.
I’m all for people defending themselves but attacking those in their 60s and 70s is not something that thrills me. Maybe it does you.
As for growing a pair, I’m quite happy with what I’ve got, XXL is big enough for me.
