A TOTAL of £2,000 was stolen when armed men forced their way into a home with a mother and baby inside.

The police held a press conference close to the detached house in Totton where two men knocked on the door with a gun and injured a 35-year-old mum as they forced their way in.

One of the men stayed with the woman while the other searched the house in Testwood Lane and Sector Inspector Alex Reading said they made off with £2,000 and an iPhone 4.

No shots were fired and the baby was not near to the struggle at the door, the 35-year-old mum's husband had already left the house by the time of the raid.

Insp Reading revealed a third person, the driver, is believed to have waited outside in a white van during the robbery at 9.15am on Wednesday.

The two other men were wearing fluorescent jackets, had their hoods pulled up and their faces covered.

He said the robbers did not try to enter any other addresses and the stolen phone is believed to have been discarded somewhere in the New Forest.
