COUNCIL chiefs have revealed that a new one-way system could be introduced in a Hampshire town centre.
If the scheme goes ahead Lymington High Street will be closed to eastbound traffic as part of a four-year project to improve the town.
Town councillors are also looking at ways to enhance the seawater baths, which made a loss last year of £55,000.
Other proposals include improvements to the forecourt outside the shops at Fox Pond, Pennington – described by critics as “an eyesore”.
The proposed one-way system will affect the eastern end of the High Street between its junctions with Gosport Street and New Street, part of which is already one-way.
Echelon car parking will be introduced on the northern side of the High Street, with vehicles parked at an angle to the kerb.
