A POST mortem on a six-year-old girl who died after being found seriously ill at a Hampshire campsite will take place this afternoon.
Police at the scene confirmed that the examination was expected to go ahead at some point later today, as officers continued their murder investigation.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary, said: “A post mortem was due to take place later today.”
She added that police were still in the process of formerly identifying the dead girl.
“A very sad consequence of this incident”, she continued, “is that people have had their holidays disrupted but we are doing everything we can to make sure that this little community is returned to normal as soon as possible.
“Those people already on the site can remain.
“The police presence will remain throughout today and over night – basically as long as it takes.
“It is important that a thorough, proper job is done.”
She confirmed that a 30-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, both from Gosport, were still in custody, being questioned by police on suspicion of murder.
