TV GARDENING expert Alan Titchmarsh today described the New Forest Show as one of the premier agricultural events in the UK.

The former Gardener's World and Ground Force presenter was speaking at the opening of the three day show, which is expected to attract at least 100,00 people.

Spectators arriving at the huge show ground at New Park, Brockenhurst, were greted by blue skies and bright sunshine.

Alan said: "So many other shows in Britain have been cancelled and it's great thay we're not only having a show but that its taking place in such brilliant weather.

"The New Forest Show is a great day out - a beautifully presented event in a dedicated show ground.

"It's the variety of the show that makes it so special. The whole of the British countryside is in the New Forest this week.

"I'm here for all three days and I've got a full itinery every day, doing something different every 20 minutes. You can't possibly be bored here."

Alan, wiil greet the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh when they visit the show ground tomorrow at the end of their Diamond Jubilee tour of the UK.

Her majesty will spend several hours chatting to some of the exhibitors and helping to present the prizes.

Alan added: "She'll have delightful company, a pleasant day out - and hopefully nothing too taxing."
