Man rescued from floodwater Man rescued from floodwater

Firefighters have rescued a man trapped in a van surrounded by floodwater following today's torrential heavy rain.

The vehicle came to a halt under Latchmore Bridge, which carries the Southampton to Bournemouth railway line over the B3055 road between Brockenhurst and Sway.

One of the two men in the vehicle had to be rescued by fire crews from Brockenhurst, Lymington and Eastleigh .

A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said motorists should never attempt to drive through floodwater that might be deep enough to cause problems.
