THOUSANDS OF men will be sporting hairy upper lips this month for Movember, but the fundraising efforts go further than the hairy caterpillar below the nose, writes Tom Robinson.

Solent University students in Southampton and one Hampshire man have come up with their own ideas for the event which raises funds for Prostate Cancer UK and for the Institute of Cancer Research Louis Karsenbarg, 22, from Ampfield, near Romsey, who works for Liberty Leasing, is selling specially made “mo’s” for vehicles.

So far he has sold more than 200 £2.50 “mo’s” and some orders have even been from as far afield as Canada through his website momyride.com.

Solent University students are calling on the public to join them in a record attempt to get the largest gathering of men with full grown “mo’s” at Southampton’s Guildhall Square.

The Guinness World Record attempt will be held at Guildhall Square from 12.30pm to 2pm on November 30.

The current record is 1,131 people set in Minnesota, USA, in 2010.

Other local Movember events include a ‘Keep it sassy Movember party’ at Buddha Lounge on Winchester Street, Southampton, tomorrow.

Meanwhile a ‘Movember party’ wil be held at Orange Rooms on Vernon Walk, Southampton, on
November 30.
