Volunteers host lunches for soldiers to boost Poppy Appeal
10:14am Thursday 8th November 2012 in Romsey
AN ARMY of volunteers will host special lunches for soldiers recently deployed to Afganistan and veterans from former conflicts in a bid to boost the Poppy Appeal.
Hampshire’s The Peat Spade at Longstock on the banks of the picturesque River Test near Stockbridge and The Anchor Inn at Lower Foyle near Alton are among The Miller’s Collection restaurants which will open their doors to serve up a sumptuous threecourse lunch.
The teams of local people are paying their tribute to the Hampshire men and women who have served their country on Monday, November 12.
The initiative was launched in 2008 and has already raised more than £20,000 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
