TELEVISION personality Esther Rantzen, pictured, will be switching on the Christmas lights in Romsey on Saturday (Nov 24).
The winter carnival parade will begin at the Crosfield Hall car park at 6.10pm. From the Crosfield the procession will travel along Broadwater Road and then head for Palmerston Street, turn left into The Hundred and the Market Place.
Once in the Market Place the procession will pause while New Forest-based Esther pushes the button to turn the Christmas lights on around 6.30pm.
After the lights go on, the carnival parade will make its way down Bell Street and then Broadwater Road and disperse at the Crosfield Hall car park.
Temporary road closures will be in place around the town including Church Street and part of Latimer Street, while the procession takes place.
Proceeds from the winter carnival will go into the committee’s charity pot and will be distributed to the lucky recipients in January.
