THIEVES have struck again at a Hampshire building site for the second time in 10 days.

They took £3,000 worth of lead flashing from the porches of eight unfinished homes on the Abbotswood building site.

This follows the stealing of copper cabling, boxes of ironmongery and two garage doors worth a total of £1,000 from three unfinished flats on the Abbotswood site between Friday, November 16 and Monday, November 19 - the third such metal theft incident on the site in three weeks.

This latest incident happened between last Friday and yesterday and it is thought that the offenders accessed the building site by removing a fencing panel along the perimeter fencing.

Patrols by officers have been stepped up in the area and police are working with the contractors on crime prevention and site security.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information and anyone who can help is asked to call Romsey Police on 101.
