A COUPLE from Hampshire will be on a bicycle made for two in aid of the charity which has supported them.

Viv and Iain Mackay are taking on a 20-mile fundraising cycle on a tandem bike in a bid to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.

The challenge comes after Viv, 65, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease four years ago and she has been determined to help the charity which supports hundreds of people like her.

She will be joined by her husband Iain for the Pedal for Parkinson’s event this month which is a fundraising cycle across the Isle of Wight.

The couple from Romsey are hoping to raise as much as possible for Parkinson’s UK.

Viv said: “Being active and taking regular exercise helps me with my Parkinson’s. I’m especially keen to raise funds for research to explore the link between exercise and improved Parkinson’s symptoms. I’m looking forward to the event it will be a great ride for us both.”

Viv is the chair of the Southampton and Romsey Cyclists’ Touring Club and she is very keen to get her community involved in the Pedal for Parkinson’s.

Anyone interested in taking part can do a 20 or 60-mile ride on Sunday, August 31 for £20 and all the money raised will be donated to Parkinson’s UK, to register 020 7963 9319 or visit parkinsons.org.uk/pedal.
