DETECTIVES are sifting through CCTV images after a break-in at a secondary school.

Jonathan de Sausmarez, executive head teacher at Romsey School, said it is believed that more than one person was involved in the burglary, which happened late on Sunday night or in the early hours of Monday.

He added that security at the school has been reviewed following the break-in.

The burglars removed a panel in a door to get into the administration offices, where they carried out an untidy search of drawers.

Documents were strewn across the floor and a small amount of petty cash and cheques kept in a safe were stolen. Parents who sent in cheques to the school have been notified.

The security alarm was triggered and it’s thought that the burglars were on the premises, at the Priestlands housing estate off Greatbridge Road, for no more than ten minutes.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
