IT was guaranteed to be a roaring success with ex-Formula One racing cars on show.
Rare cars belonging to the late F1 driver David Purley helped pull in the crowds at Awbridge Fete and Motor Show on Saturday.
His LEC 1 and 2 cars designed by the man himself, were brought to the fete by Simon Turner who runs WDK Motor Sport and the vehicles soon had people looking over them.
Motor show organiser Peter Allen said: “Simon and his crew explained the history and performance of the cars to anybody who was interested.
"We also had a Lotus JPS Formula 1 car and a De Tomaso Pantera sports car at the fete,” he said.
There was a feast of attractions at fete including Morris dancing, a classic vehicle show, performances by Lockerley Silver Band, pony rides for the kids, a dog show, steam engines and soldiers from Salisbury Plain-based 206 Signal Squadron.
Major Vicky Maddison from the squadron officially opened the fete.
