THEY have tackled some of the scariest rides in the entire world.

Since 1978 daring members of the American Coaster Enthusiasts have got their thrills by going from theme park to theme park testing out the tallest and fastest roller coasters in existence.

And now they have picked their next challenge – Peppa Pig World at Paulton’s Park.

The 171-strong group will visit Hampshire this weekend to test rides including the Cobra, The Edge and the Cheshire Cat-themed Cat-O-Pillar at the Ower theme park.

It comes just months after Peppa Pig World, celebrating popular children’s TV series, was named the best family theme park in the Tommy Awards.

The adrenaline-junkies’ visit will toast the start of an 11-day tour of 14 of the UK’s top theme parks, including Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures.

The group includes members from 32 of America’s 50 states as well as some thrillseekers from Canada and Germany.

The organisation said the group’s excitement ahead of their visit to the Hampshire theme park was off the charts.

Organiser Tim Baldwin, said: “For many of our attendees this will not only be their first time to Europe but also the first time to step beyond the US borders.

“Their excitement is off the charts. We keep our fingers crossed for good weather so that we can make the most of this fantastic roller coaster journey.

“The UK has so many notable roller coasters. Some of them are quite legendary. We’re quite eager to take them on.”

ACE president Jerry Willard added: “This tour is going to be amazing.

"With 11 non-stop days of coaster riding, our members are really going to see the full range – wonderful historic coasters and the newest, modern thrillers.

"We have a soft spot for nostalgic wooden coasters and With so many great ones in the UK it is going to be a trip of a lifetime.”

After visiting Paulton’s Park, the group will head to Oakwood Theme Park in Pembrokeshire, Alton Towers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Flamingo Land in Yorkshire, Joyland Amusement Park and Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach in Norfolk, Pleasurewood Hills in Suffolk, Drayton Manor in Staffordshire, Legoland Windsor, Chesington World of Adventure, Dreamland in Kent, Adventure Island in Essex and Thorpe Park.

ACE was set up in 1978 to support the preservation and promotion of roller coasters. It has since grown to include 5,000 members worldwide.
