A FOLK fan will shave his hair and beard off in front of a live audience at a Hampshire music festival.

Timothy Casentieri, a volunteer at the New Forest Folk Festival, will place faith in the hands of the event's chief of security Iain Holloway and undergo the extreme makeover in aid of the Round Table Children's Wish charity.

The charity is dedicated to granting individual wishes for children and young people with life-threatening illnesses and Mr Casentieri is keen to lend his support.

He said: "Timothy said: "When we had our reunion BBQ last month, for all the volunteers who are involved with running the festival with the Curtis family, I thought wouldn’t it be great to do something for charity at the event.

"Last year we staged an ice bucket challenge, which went down a storm with the audience and as the Round Table Children’s Wish are attending the festival, to raise awareness of the charity and the work they do, I thought 'why not'."

The unusual show will take place on the last day of the family-friendly folk festival, which will be held at Powells Farm, Plaitford, Romsey, from August 26 to 30.

Brothers Nick and Keith Curtis’ home Powells Farm, Plaitford, Romsey has been in the family for six generations, and more recently became the home of the Annual ‘New Forest Folk Festival’ which started in 2012.

Nick Curtis, organises the logistics of the event and his brother Keith manages the marketing and publicity, while their wives and families along with an army of friends and volunteers help to bring the event together.

Nick says: "Tim’s a great character within our family of volunteers, particularly well known for his well-established beard. It’s great that he has decided to make this pledge for the charity.

"I’m sure he will get a lot of support."
