A ROMSEY teenager had more than 11 inches of her hair cut to help a charity which makes wigs for girls suffering from cancer or alopecia.

Abigail Berryman held a coffee morning at her home in Middlebridge Street where she had the lock snipped off after it was styled by mobile hairdresser Margaret Kievel in front of all her friends and family.

The 19-year old had been growing her hair for four years before she had it cut off by which time it had grown down to her hips.

She raised more than £1,100 for the Little Princess Trust by doing so.

Abigail, who works at the Cromwell Arms pub, said why she wanted to raise the money for this charity.

“I have lost both my granddads to cancer and I had a very small bout of alopecia when I was younger which I got from stress after losing my grandfather.

“I had to wear a bandana. It was quite traumatic for me. For those who lose it through cancer I can only imagine what that feels like.”

She added her thanks to all those people and business who sponsored and donated to the cause.
