TEST VALLEY singer Harry Fisher has won a spot in through to the next round of the BBC talent show The Voice.

The 19-year-old beat fellow contestant Charley Birkin as they battled it out singing Michael Jackson’s I Just Can’t Stop Loving You on Saturday night.

After their performance coach Boy George chose to take Harry, from Nursling, through to the next stage of the competition.

Harry said: “I remember telling George I was really worried because Michael Jackson is so massive and a really hard act to follow and he basically said ‘yeah you need to get over that’ which was actually really good because we got on with it, we struggled a bit at first but it was an amazing experience.”

Harry, who now lives in London studying drama and applied theatre at St Mary’s University in Twickenham, has dazzled the panel of coaches when he performed Let It Go by James Bay for Paloma Faith, Will.I.Am, Ricky Wilson and 80s pop legend Boy George during the blind auditions.

He added: “It was great working with Charley she was lovely and we ended up having a really strong bond which I think brought the best out of us for the performance, we carried each other through it and kept each other distracted from the nerves.”

Meanwhile among those not to go through was the great-nephew of Cilla Black.

Tobias Robertson, from Newport, lost his head-to-head battle with Stirling’s Laura Begley following their rendition of Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart.

Those joining Harry include Jordan Gray, Dwaine Hayden Rick Snowdon, Bradley Waterman, Charley Blue, Brooklynne Richards, Jolan and former X Factor star Lydia Lucy.
