Music festival survives with £3,500 grant

THE show will go on for a Hampshire music festival despite Government cutbacks.

The Contact Music festival will take place, as planned, at Romsey School on Saturday, July 31 after the Southampton-based Soco Music project secured £3,500 from the Find Your Talent initiative, just before it was wound up.

An early victim of the coalition’s cost-cutting, Find Your Talent was set up to deliver funding to youth culture and arts schemes by the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH), made up of Hampshire County Council, Portsmouth City Council and Southampton City Council.

The festival will give young musicians and dancers the chance to take centre stage. Workshops running on the day will include film, animation, fashion and dance.

Additional funding for the event has come from Hampshire County Council and Romsey School.
