A HOUSEHOLD waste centre was targeted in an attempted burglary.

The offenders broke into the front gate of the Casbrook Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC), in Bunny Lane, near Romsey, and snapped off several locks in an attempt to break in to a container storing metal.

The would-be thieves damaged the container and some of the locks but failed to gain entry.

The attempt was made overnight between last Friday and Saturday.

Anyone who witnessed the attempted robbery or who has information should call Romsey Police on 101.

It is hard to explain if a wedding ring goes missing.

This reminded me of a great musical joke :

A man parked his car outside a shop. He had an accordian on the back seat in full view, and wondered if he should lock it in the boot to avoid tempting anyone to break in. As he was only going to be a short time away, he decided not to bother. However, on returning to the car, ten minutes later, his worst fear had been realised : the rear window of the car had been smashed, and there, on the back seat, were two more accordians !

For the benefit if those who may contest the relevence of this story, the link between the Echo tale and the joke is "extraordinary, criminal behaviour".
