Rail delays as tree falls on line Rail delays as tree falls on line

RAIL commuters are facing travel chaos across Southampton today amid dismal weather conditions.

A tree has fallen across the line between Romsey and Mottisfont sparking delays of up to 40 minutes on services to and from Salisbury.

Elsewhere, buses are replacing trains between Fareham and Eastleigh with journey times held up by 30 minutes.

A signalling problem near Fareham means that trains are unable to stop at Botley and Hedge End.

The delays and replacement bus services will be in place until further notice.

Leaves on the line, not unusual, still attached to the trees much more difficult to deal with.
