TWO Romsey site managers have been recognised for excellence in house-building.

Both have been shortlisted for a regional title for their work at the Abbotswood development, near Romsey.

Dave Murnane and Geoff Walker were picked as winners in the first round of judging for the annual National House-Building Council’s (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards.

They are two among 450 people selected as winners from more than 13,000 site managers across the UK.

Mr Murnane, from Bellway Homes Ltd Wessex, was awarded for his work at Abbotswood, in Cupernham Lane, and Mr Walker, of Bovis Homes Limited – South East Region, for his work at Abbotswood, in Sandy Lane.

Regional winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in the autumn, with successful individuals then progressing to the national Grand Gala Final in London in January.

Pride in the Job recognises outstanding quality in house-building throughout the UK, rewarding the best site managers, who are responsible for managing the construction of new homes from start to finish.

The homes built are assessed on stringent criteria by NHBC, a standards-setting and consumer warranty body for new UK homes.

Isabel Hudson, executive chairman of NHBC, said: “For over 30 years, Pride in the Job has been one of the cornerstones of NHBC’s work to improve housing standards for the benefit of home owners.

“It has been extremely successful over the years in promoting and encouraging best practice on-site.

“Anyone gaining an award against such strong competition can be very proud.”
