THERE were smiles all round as Hampshire comedian Mike Osman, pictured below, opened Southampton’s newest school yesterday.
The comic told jokes to pupils and planted a tree to commemorate the unveiling of the environmentally-friendly £6m building at Newlands Primary School – the largest primary school to be built in the city for a quarter of a century.
The 420-pupil school has been rebuilt on its site in Ullswater Road, Millbrook, with 17 classrooms, a nursery, two halls, a kitchen, staff facilities and offices. Solar panels have also been installed.
