Faith in Harrow may have a role in explaining the latest fact revealed by the 2011 Census - it's higher than usual marriage rate.
The latest figures from the 2011 Census show that 53.7 per cent of people living in Harrow are married - higher than any other borough in London.
By contrast, 46.6 per cent of people across the country as a whole are married.
Figures released before Christmas showed the borough had the second lowest rate of people who considered themselves to have no religion, while it was also one of the most diverse in the country in terms of religion.
Harrow Borough Council’s leader, Councillor Thaya Idaikkadar, believes the two may be linked.
He said: “Being the borough with the highest amount of religious affiliation could well be a reason for the high number of married people. Marriage is very important to most religions.
“There is a strong sense of unity in Harrow, which is bringing people together in terms of community but also obviously in terms of marriage.”
