A TEENAGER has been arrested after a fight which left a man in hospital with a serious cut to his hand.

Police were called to an apartment in Woolston in the early hours of yesterday morning following reports of a fight between two men.

When police arrived at the flat in West Cliffe Mews they discovered a 22-year-old from Southampton, with a serious injury to his hand that needed hospital treatment.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital where he remained throughout yesterday.

The area around the property was taped off for most of the day yesterday as forensics officers examined the scene to try and establish what exactly happened.

It is believed that a weapon was used during the attack, which happened at around 2.30am, but it is not yet known what it was.

A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: “Residents do not need to be concerned as this appears to be an isolated incident which was contained within the address.”

A 17-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Anyone with information about the incident should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
