A NIGHT out at the pub ended with one man suffering a broken nose after he was set upon by two thugs in an unprovoked attack.

The 34-year-old man and his friend were walking home in Totton after an evening at the Farmhouse pub when they were violently assaulted.

Police are now hunting for the thugs who kicked the victim in the face, as well as three vital witnesses who were spotted close to the scene.

The victim and his friend were walking in Rufus Gardens on Saturday evening when they first came across the pair asking for drugs.

When they ignored them, one of the strangers attacked the victim from behind, beating him to the ground and violently kicking him in the head.

The injured man was taken to Southampton General Hospital where he was treated for a suspected broken nose.

PC David Barnes, who is appealing for witnesses to the attack, said: “The victim saw three men aged in their late teens to early 20s just before the offenders fled the scene.

“These men may have witnessed what happened and could have vital information.

I would urge them to come forward and tell us what they saw, to help us find those responsible.”

One of his attackers is white, 5ft 10ins, of slim build, with short blond hair.

He wore dark blue Adidas clothing and speaks with a local accent.

His accomplice is in his 20s and wore dark coloured clothing.

Witnesses to the incident, which happened at 11.50pm, should contact PC Barnes on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
