A WOMAN has spoken of the terrifying mo-ment she was threatened with a knife and tied up by burglars in her own home.

Speaking to the Daily Echo she relived the moment two masked men burst through her front door and ransacked her Southampton home.

The 28-year-old, who has asked not to be named, described how she was at home in Howard Road, Shirley, at about 10.30am on Tuesday.

The door bell rang twice and on the third ring she went to answer it.

As she opened the door she was confronted by two men brandishing a metal bar and a small knife, who forced their way in.

She said: “They pushed me back and said: ‘Give me the money’. “I said: ‘I haven’t got any money’ and one of them held the knife to my face.”

She said the two men, who wore woolly hats and coat collars over most of their faces, pushed her into her bedroom.

She continued: “They pushed me on the bed and taped around my mouth and eyes. They said ‘shut up’ and then taped around my arms, hands and legs.”

The two men then ransacked the house, taking a Rolex watch, white gold jewellery, an iPad worth £600, a Satnav, an Xbox and a camera.

They left, leaving her tied up.

She said: “When they had gone and I heard the door shut I managed to take the tape off one hand and then undid the rest of it. Then I went to a friend and called the police.”

Although she does not know who the two men are she believes they are familiar with her routine as they targeted her after her boyfriend had left for work.

She added: “I can’t sleep, I keep checking the windows, doors, everything. I’m scared to go out and I’m really scared they will come back.

“It was terrifying and I still don’t believe that people could do that to someone else.

“When the door bell goes at that time of the day you just expect it to be the postman.”

The men are described as between 30 and 38, around 5ft 9ins, well-built and Polish. They were wearing black clothes and woolly hats and brown boots.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Detective Constable Daniel Farrell, said: “As always I would urge members of the community to be vigilant and use spy holes and door chains where possible before answering the door if they have any concerns.

"If in doubt don’t open the door and contact us on 101, or, in an emergency, 999."
