HUNDREDS of people flocked to two casting calls for a secret Hollywood movie that is set to be filmed in Southampton in November.

Casting agency 2020 put the call out for extras from the Southampton area to give up several days to be on the set of what they say is a 'Hollywood feature film'.

However they refused to name what the title of the movie is, where it is being filmed, the actors and actresses in it and even the genre, they described the film as a 'blockbuster movie' but did not want to comment further.

The two auditions saw people flock to Southampton Park Hotel in Cumberland Place and the Cube campus at Southampton University's SU building.

More than 400 people went to the audition at 'The Cube' which had a knock-on effect for the casting call at the Southampton Park Hotel, as people were being turned down for roles for 'young people'.

It comes just months after hit US drama 24 came to Southampton, and saw turn into a movie set as gun fights and explosions were filmed there.

2020 Casting have previously supplied extras for various blockbuster movies including World War Z, The Dark Night Rises, Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, The Invisible Woman and Star Wars Episode One.

Sharn Bewley, 16, a student at Itchen College from Woolston in Southampton, said: “I would love to go into acting and it is a good place to start. My friend showed details of the audition to me and I was really surprised you do not hear of things like in Southampton. I would love if I was chosen to be on set.”

Chris Watling, 64, retired from Netley, said: “My daughter emailed me and told me about the audition. I am retired and I thought it is something to do, a chap I worked with was an extra in the Pirates of the Caribbean and it is something different to add to the CV.”

Alexandra Hewitt, 19, a student at Southampton Solent University from Bedford Place in Southampton, said: “I came along because I'm a film student and I am interested in the process of casting and but we were turned away because they had enough young people.”

Alex Connolly, 25, a Greenpeace volunteer from Hythe, said: “I find the whole thing exciting. I have been an extra before for my friend's film. I find it cool that there's a Hollywood film in Southampton.
