HE HAS failed to impress the judges, but the fancy footwork of Hampshire’s Strictly star has won him an army of fans – including the world’s biggest boy band, One Direction.

Desperate to ensure Scott Mills “keeps dancing”, some of the biggest names in show business have thrown their support behind the Radio 1 DJ.

And he sure does need it, with bookies predicting Scott as odds-on favourite to be axed from the show this weekend.

From One Direction’s Liam Payne, to Robbie Williams , Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Baywatch’s David Hasselhoff, a vast array of famous faces are backing the Hampshire-born presenter, who is finding it difficult to climb the leaderboard.

Last week, Scott faced his harshest criticism yet for his American Smooth with Craig Revel Horwood saying “you are the exception to the rule that anyone can dance” and scoring him just two.

With a total of just 15, Scott and his partner Joanne Clifton had the lowest score but the public vote saved them from the boot.

He also has an army of celebrity fans including Liam, who showed his support in a video message.

He said: “Hi Mr Scott Mills, I have heard you are doing Strictly so I wanted to wish you the best of luck.

“Have a great time and make sure you win, or never come back.”

Another famous fan offering support is Robbie Williams who said: “I can’t believe you are doing Strictly, how amazing.”

While David Hasselhoff tweeted: “Vote for Scott Mills. I am! Tonight on Strictly Come Dancing!! Go Scott!! The Hoff.”

Scott, who admits he was “disheartened” by Craig’s comments, has been overwhelmed by the support he has had.

Now he can add Cheryl Fernandez-Versini to the list too after she told him she would have a word with Craig and ask him to stop being so mean.

The singer, a judge on rival ITV show The X Factor, told himto ignore judge Craig Revel Horwood's cutting comments.

Scott said: ''Cheryl wished me the best of luck and told me to go out there, do my best and don't listen to Craig. I don't know (if she watched my performances) but she knows I'm doing it.

''I asked her to give a message to the judges to not be mean to me. She agreed and asked if it was Craig who had been mean.''

The former Crestwood College pupil said: “I need to say thank you. We had the lowest score we have ever had and just not to be in the bottom two is just incredible so thank you so much.”

“I don’t want to throw in the towel at all. I am loving this experience so much.

“I think I have learned a lot and I think I am genuinely improving every week and that is what I want to do.

“I am never going to be the best dancer but I want to get better at it and I think I am.”
