CHARITIES are calling for Southampton teachers, health workers and young people to put themselves forward for a prestigious award.

Nominations are open for the fourth annual UK Sexual Health Awards which promote safe sex, relationship education and excellence in sexual health journalism.

Last year’s nominees included Southampton Rape Crisis and its STAR project which engages with more than 6,000 young people through sex education workshops.

The event is run by UK sexual health charities Brook and FPA.

There are a variety of awards for individuals, organisations and services and to make nominations visit uksexualhealthawards.org.uk.

Nominations close on Friday, December 5.
